With more than 100 daytime and evening adult art classes, the instructors at Armory Art Center nurture creative talents in visual arts ranging from drawing and painting to silversmithing. Taught by a mix of artists-in-residence and accomplished instructors, small groups of 5–15 students gather in one of more than a dozen large, well-lit studios for séances with Picasso's cube-shaped ghost. In Photographing the Human Form, students work with a model for portrait and abstract photos to learn about lighting, posing, and exposure control. Introduction to Silversmithing instructs students in the art of jewelry making using tools, torches, polishers, and more, while Figure Painting with Color courses employ contemporary concepts to enrich painting compositions and form, and Beginning Wheel Throwing classes introduce novice students to potter's wheels, where they can spin earthy clay to create vases, mugs, and fierce, revenge-seeking golems.
