iJoy Rides - Free Taxi Service in West Palm Beach

Kareem Alawi is the founder of iJoy Rides, an idea that evolved from the pedicab industry with a twist. His focus was on providing a free taxi service to local West Palm Beach residents but also to make sure that each vehicle was 100% emission free. The focus was to find the right electric vehicles that can fill the emission free status but also be cost effective to drive passengers longer and farther. Through the use of advanced mechanical engineering, iJoy Rides can drive about 45 miles on one charge where as other competitors range was limited to about 30 miles. 

The electric vehicle can go up to 30 miles per hour but they normally drive anywhere from 15-mph to 20-mph to be on the safe side. iJoy Rides picks up residents at their homes or if they are already out and about in downtown West Palm Beach. They cover all of Palm Beach Island and even head South to the 4 Seasons. To fully charge a vehicle it roughly takes about 3-4 hours and they currently have 3 cars available with 1 being retrofitted as we speak.

iJoy Rides is a little different than their competitors in the sense that their rides are free and are purely funded through their advertisers. They have introduced a new way of advertising and marketing local businesses through the use of a digital TV in the rear of the vehicle, which displays ads. Imagine a moving billboard seen by 100s of people each and every day. Inside the vehicle, the headrests are equipped with televisions showing the same ads that are being shown at the rear of the vehicle. It is a direct message not only to the people using the service but also to the people who happen to be walking in CityPlace, Clematis Street, or Palm Beach Island.
